Hi, are you ready to meet a heavyweight champion? Don't let the name fool you! I'm Sumo, a three-year-old male pug, and the only thing I'm wrestling with is how to fit even more love and fun into every day! I'm a friendly, loving little shadow who wants to follow you everywhere and curl up beside you for some serious snuggle time.
My favorite event is the daily walk! I love heading out for a few short strolls throughout the day, walk beautifully on my leash, and prefer to take care of my business while we're exploring. I enjoy meeting friendly people, happily accept pets from strangers, and politely investigate other dogs. I'm also a gold medal teammate at home! I get along wonderfully with other dogs, have been a perfect gentleman around cats, and am great with kids. I've made friends with children ages 10 and 12, and my gentle nature suggests I could do well with younger ones, too.
I'm house trained, know commands like sit, down, no, outside, and treat, and have made great progress with my crate training. I even head into my crate at bedtime and wait for my treat! I might protest with a little howl during the day, but I settle down quickly. I also have diabetes and need twice-daily Vetsulin insulin injections, which I take like a champ! My future family will need to keep up with my insulin routine to help me stay healthy and happy. While toys aren't really my thing, I enjoy chewing on bones and investigating garbage cans for forgotten snacks! I also have an early-bird streak and sometimes wake around 4 a.m. hoping to trade my crate for some cozy cuddles.
