About Pug Rescue of Austin
We Save Lives
Pug Rescue of Austin is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue, healthcare and placement of abused, neglected and unwanted pugs.
We do not discriminate on the basis of health or age. Our mission is to provide a safe, caring and humane refuge for abandoned pugs and to ensure quality adoptive homes. We promote responsible pug ownership through a mandatory spay/neuter policy and public education about the unique needs of pugs.

2025 Year End Update from Pug Rescue of Austin
What a year it has been for our rescue community. In 2025, we welcomed 115 new intakes into our care. That intake number reflects a year focused on helping the dogs already in our program find their forever homes.
We adopted out 159 dogs in 2025 — that’s right, more adoptions than intakes! A big reason for this is that 85 of our 2025 adoptions were dogs who entered the rescue in 2024 or earlier, when intake reached record highs.
The remaining 74 adoptions were dogs who entered the rescue in 2025.
We saw a wide age range of dogs being adopted, from tiny puppies to beloved seniors. So many dogs found their perfect match:
35 under 1 year old
29 at 1 year old
24 at 2 years old
23 at 3 years old
38 between 4 and 8 years old
10 seniors aged 10 and older, including sweet Ling Lu at 16½ (pictured)
Every one of these numbers represents a life changed, a family completed, and a pug who now knows love and safety.
Thank you to our fosters, adopters, volunteers, donors, and supporters for making this possible.
