Oaxaca Needs Help
Pronounced wah-HAH-kah
Oaxaca needed us. And he needed us fast.
Meet 12-year-old Oaxaca, a sweet senior fellow who came to Pug Rescue of Austin from a local shelter with a severely proptosed eye that was far beyond saving. The infection was massive, and our Medical Director told us he was truly in danger of becoming septic.
There was no time to wait. His eye had to be removed immediately. Thankfully, the incredible team at Westlake Animal Hospital rearranged their work and personal schedules to make his emergency surgery happen. Oaxaca made it through surgery and is now recovering comfortably in his foster home.
But there is more to his story. Oaxaca is completely blind. His remaining eye is severely pigmented and scarred, likely from years of untreated dry eye. Yet despite everything he has endured, this sweet senior is safe, loved, and finally getting the care he deserves. Now we need your help.
Oaxaca’s lifesaving emergency surgery took a significant bite out of our emergency fund, and we need to replenish it so we can say YES the next time a pug arrives who needs urgent care. Our goal is $3,500. Please consider donating here.
Every dollar helps us be ready when the next pug needs us most. Please consider donating today and helping us continue saving pugs like Oaxaca.
