Giving Chance a Chance
Chance, our little parvo survivor, is doing fantastic! From being lost and living outside to battling parvo, he has now been given the life he deserves. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to help him, especially Pug Squad for their generous donation. Chance sends his love and gratitude to all his supporters!
October 30, 2024: Meet Chance! A good samaritan found him in a San Antonio park yesterday and reached out to PRA. We jumped into action to get him the emergency care he needed. He unfortunately was diagnosed with Parvo, a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease which is painful and very expensive to treat. (PSA: Vaccines are SO important to prevent such illnesses!) This sweet handsome young adult is now fighting for his life. He is receiving round-the-clock care and we are hopeful that he will make a full recovery. His estimated expenses are $6,000 so far. We are ever so grateful for the generous support of our donors and volunteers who make saving pugs like Chance possible. Please send good vibes to Chance and wish him a speedy recovery!
November 2, 2024: Chance is still hospitalized but his blood work is improving! His potassium is finally back to the normal range. His white blood cell count has tripled, which means he's fighting the infection! He is not regurgitating as much and has less gastric residual fluid being drained from his stomach, which means his gastrointestinal tract is starting to function properly and absorb nutrients. This is a very positive sign and means he is on the road to recovery! Once he starts eating on his own, he can be released. Please continue to keep those positive thoughts coming for this brave sweet boy!
November 5, 2024: It was a challenging week of 24/7 emergency care, but our resilient little boy has beaten the odds and emerged victorious over parvo! Chance started eating on his own last night and was released today to one of our amazing foster homes. He is settling in, much happier, and more comfortable. Thank you everyone for all your love and support.
November 9, 2024: We’re thrilled to share that Chance is officially doing great now! He is absolutely loving being in a home instead of the hospital, and is soaking up all the attention. He’s having a blast playing with his toys and enjoying life!
