Chickpea

“I wanted to let you know that Chickpea, listed as “Cheezit” on her adoption paperwork, passed away recently. I first fostered her on May 2, 2017, and not long after she officially became mine. We shared seven wonderful years together.

Over the last two years, Chickpea bravely battled hypertension and heart failure with consistent veterinary care and daily medication. While her body grew tired, her spirit never did.

I cannot adequately express how much joy she brought into my life. She traveled everywhere with me, including more than 5,000 miles each year riding in a bicycle basket. She was my beautiful, singular creature, and she truly saved my life. My husband and I eloped in Colorado two years ago, and Chickpea was there as our witness.

I am endlessly grateful for the time I had with her and for the care and work that made it possible for her to find her way to me. Thank you for everything you do for these dogs and for the role you played in bringing Chickpea into my life. She will always be deeply loved and missed.”
