Dora

Some things in life are better when they aren’t rushed. That’s the way I feel.

Hi, I’m Dora. My name means “gift.” That’s a big name to live up to but I know that I’ll be the best gift to a patient, loving family.

I’m seven years old and I’m a shy, reserved girl. I can be slow to open up to new people but that doesn’t mean that I don’t like attention. I love getting pets and will sometimes push my way to the front of my dog friends to make sure that I’m seen. I do know how to share and will grudgingly do so when asked. Even though I may push my way to the front of a crowd for attention, I really only need a few minutes of pets before I’m ready to go lay down.

I get along well with both dogs and cats. I don’t mind sharing dog beds and will snuggle up with my dog friends. I like cats and find them to be interesting creatures. Typically, I’m pretty indifferent to them, but sometimes I like to slowly follow them to see what they are doing.

I’m also crate trained and mostly house trained. I don’t like being left alone and I miss my people when they are gone. If I have to be left at home, I do best in a covered crate. I also do well with baths and nail trims.

One way to get to my heart is through chew bones and food. Sometimes I get so excited about dinner that I start drooling! It’s a tad embarrassing but what can a girl do? I also really enjoy tossing dog beds around any playing with them. I’ve been known to try and toss a slipper or two up in the air. I’m learning to distinguish between things that should be played with and things that shouldn’t.

I do require eye medication, which is no fun, but I’m starting to accept that they are a good thing for me.

I am so grateful for the gift of living the good life and for my patient, loving foster family but now I’m ready to find my forever family! Could it be you? Fill out an application today for me, Dora.
