We adopted 13 year old Robbie in mid January 2019. Our time with him was short, but the memories are infinite. It didn’t take long for Robbie to feel right at home with us and his brother Jesse.
We learned quickly that Robbie loved snuggles, food, and walks! Though he was old and a bit slow, he LOVED his walks. He did jumps and twirls when we got his leash out and his smile was undeniable. While on walks, he’d have to stop at every yard to sniff and he loved saying hi to every dog that passed by. I think that was his favorite part.
At home, he would never stay in a room alone. If we got off the couch or bed, he’d follow. In the mornings, as we got ready for work, he’d lay nearby, checking to make sure we were still in there every minute or so.
When it was time for bed, he wasn’t shy about making his spot known. He plopped down on the bed and wouldn’t budge! He also liked to sneak his way up to our pillows. Little sneaker stinker!
His underbite and floppy ears were our favorite thing about him. He had such a funny and cute little face. He made us smile and laugh every day. We liked to call him Robbie sabi after the Japanese “wabisabi” meaning finding the beauty in the imperfections. Robbie taught us that. Other nicknames included “robber,” “Robble,” “tater,” “little spy,” and “baber.”
It has been such a hard thing losing precious Robbie. We try to remember that we made his last days happy and comfortable and he knew he was loved. We miss him dearly but will always carry him in our hearts.
Thank you for the love and memories. Rest easy, Robbie.
