We moved to Sun City, Texas four years ago, and have been enjoying a wonderful retirement here. We began to feel something was missing, however, and started thinking about getting a dog. Dogs are a big part of life in Sun City and being retired gives us plenty of time to enjoy a pet. Also, we love to RV, and dogs are a staple in every campground.
When our friends told us they were fostering a new little black pug named Rubin, we went right down to see him. When we saw little Rubin, we were smitten! He had lost most of his fur, he was drastically underweight, and we thought he was the cutest thing we ever saw. When he came right up to us and wanted to be held, we knew he was the one.
Then, a few months later, we saw sweet little Joanna on the Pug Rescue Austin Facebook site. A few days after we began a trial visit with her, we knew we had found the perfect companion for Doc (formerly Rubin), and for us! She’s an adorable clown and really makes us laugh!
We take Doc and Joanna (nicknamed Jo Jo) for walks in our neighborhood, and they go on road trips with us in our camper. It is such a joy to have these little guys in our lives, and we can’t stop talking about them to each other and to others! (The other dog parents here smile in understanding.) What a thrill to watch Doc gain weight and get stronger and become even more handsome! He and Jo Jo are very attached to each other.
The whole experience has been very rewarding. We can’t imagine more sweet, affectionate dogs; a perfect fit for our family.
