A few years ago, after the death of a beloved cat, my husband, Trevor, and I had begun discussing adopting a dog, specifically a pug. We both feel passionately about adopting from rescues, but thought at the time that rescuing a pug would be a tall order because we couldn’t imagine who would want to give up or abandon such a cute, lovable dog.
A couple months later, we heard about the Pug Rescue through some friends who foster for PRA and started looking into what it takes to adopt. We hemmed and hawed some more because neither of us had much experience caring for dogs, so we decided to put adoption on the back burner and I started doing volunteer work for PRA.
Fast-forward about 6 months when Dax’s (formerly known as Jasper) face popped up on my Facebook feed. I was IN LOVE. As these things happen, there was something that drew me to this little guy and I wanted to snuggle him right away. We slept on it that night and the first thing the next morning, we submitted our adoption application. We often comment that adopting Dax has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. He is the best snuggler in good times, not-so-good times and everything in between. And even though he hogs the bed, it always warms my heart to know that he’s right there beside us. Have I mentioned he’s a heart-breaker? I mean, come on! How can you resist that face? This crazy cat lady couldn’t.
Thanks so much to the Pug Rescue for all of the hard work you do saving these cuties’ lives!
